Welcome to St Bridget's C of E Primary School
28/3/24
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week Year three led our Easter Service. They reminded us of the important messages of Easter and focussed on how we can show our love for each other. In the previous week the school enjoyed Easter activities in the church which we call our “Easter Experience” which helps the children understand some of the concepts and events that we think about at Easter. Thank you to Rev. Alex and her team of helpers for bringing this to life for our children.
Our School Council have been very busy in the last month raising awareness about Road Safety. The children have shared a message below, but they have not stopped there. They have also contacted the Local Council about their concerns who have agreed to patrol the local roads. In addition, they have approved my letter to the Local Councillor for West Kirby highlighting the need for improved road markings and signage. They pointed out that the signage around our school is in poor condition or non-existent when contrasted with other local schools. Today we have received a reply from the local Councillor who is reviewing our requests with the Road Safety Team.
Safer Parking and School Council
Thank you to all of the parents that have supported the school’s request for safer parking in the local roads. The School Council have written the following.
We are writing to share our findings from our Parking Patrol outside of school. Lots of parents came and said hello and thanked us for what we were doing so we wanted to say thank you for your support, it was lovely seeing so many smiles at the start of the school day! It was also great to see lots of our children walking, scooting and cycling into school as well as plenty of parents parking legally and safely.
However, we are still feeling upset about the issue of safe parking around school. Unfortunately, even with our patrol standing there with our high-visibility jackets on, some parents still felt it necessary to stop in the middle of the road to drop off children, while others still parked illegally on double yellow lines. In both cases we saw how this selfish parking made the roads much more dangerous for children crossing and we are very worried it will cause an accident.
We want to thank everyone who is being kind and thoughtful and we would like those who continue to park
dangerously to really think about how they can show our community how we can ‘love our neighbour’ by
making safer choices.

At the end of this week the winning posters to promote disposal of dog poo properly will be put up around the Marine Lake. The winning entries will be announced shortly and hopefully this will make everyone’s walk around the lake more enjoyable.
Parents Evening
We have had a very good response for our parents evening and our teachers will contact parents who missed meetings after Easter. We did have some technical difficulties which were due to a local area fault affecting over a hundred schools and beyond our control. Our hybrid approach of online meetings and seeing the class and books the week before does work well. It does allow more time to see work and support your child’s involvement in the process although I have received some feedback about having all of this face to face. I will keep this under review.
Easter Club
Over Easter we have a local provider running an Easter Club from 2nd April-4th April. The information for this is on the website link.
Chess Team
Well done to the chess team who were invited to enter a competition with Liverpool Secondary Schools. They played very well and won two of their matches and had a great time.
Cross Country Roundup
The cross-country team have continued the success of recent years. Both the boys and girls’ teams have regularly achieved medal positions at the Wirral Schools races. In addition, several pupils have represented both the district and the county this season. The team are looking forward to defending their Wirral Schools Cross Country Relay Team title in the next month.

Netball and Quick sticks
Recently, we hosted an Edsential Netball competition which some of our Year five children took part in and won all four games. Additionally, five year six girls took part in a quick sticks competition where we came third. All the children in these two competitions played really well and represented our school with pride. Well done.
Website updates
The PTA have recently sent a newsletter about the events that are happening next term. There is a copy of this on the website. Link
E-safety - It is critical as parents and educators that we keep on top of e-safety. It is one of the biggest
challenges we have to safeguarding our children. I receive regular weekly updates and put these on the website. Link
