Newsletter 11/10/24
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to all of the families and children that provided food for our school Harvest Festival. All of our gifts were gratefully received and collected by the Food Bank. In this week’s assembly we thought about the Parable of the Good Samaritan and revisited the question of “who is my neighbour?” Our Mission Statement of Love thy Neighbour comes from this parable and reminds of the importance of being thoughtful towards all members of the community near and far. Harvest time provides time to reflect on this as a school community.
Staffing update – Mr Neal’s Secondment to St. Andrew’s CE Primary, Bebington
On Monday the school Governors confirmed that Mr Neal will be released to be the Acting Headteacher of St. Andrew's in Bebington for two terms starting in January. This opportunity has arisen because the current Headteacher is retiring at Christmas and the Governors of St. Andrew’s wanted an experienced senior leader to support their school before they appoint a permanent Headteacher. This is an exciting opportunity for him and something that the Diocese requested from our school. In the interim, I have asked Mrs Ross to be the Acting Deputy Headteacher and I am reviewing what other changes in the leadership and teaching team that we might need to make. I will keep you informed. In the meantime, I am sure you will join me in wishing Mr Neal all the best from January.
Parents Evening
After an overwhelmingly successful Parent's Evening back in March, where we had 95% engagement across the whole school, we will again be running a formal, focused online meeting coupled with an opportunity to come into school at the end of the term to view your child's work.
Parent's Evening sign-up will go live on Monday 14th October at 12:30pm. On this date you should receive an email sign-up link and you can also use this link to make an appointment with the class teacher.
https://stbridgetscofe.schoolcloud.co.uk/
The deadline for making the appointments will be Friday 18th October at 12:30pm. Please note that the focus of this meeting is how your child has begun the academic year and should you have any other issues you wish to discuss, these can be organised as a separate meeting, as usual.
All pupils with an EHCP will have a separate meeting with Mr. Coughlin, our SENCo and the class teacher. This will be organised through Mr. Coughlin and you do not need to sign up online.
Please also note that school will be open at the end of the school day (3:30pm - 4:30pm) on Tuesday 17th December for parents and children to come into school and view their books and classroom. The classroom teacher will also be present to answer any questions.
Attendance
Thank you to all of the parents who are supporting our efforts to ensure that school attendance is high. At school we track attendance daily and regularly review where children are missing school. This is a national initiative and one which the Department for Education and the Local Authority are supporting vigorously. Reasons for school absence must be exceptional and where possible be avoided. Research shows that children with high levels of school attendance are more likely to achieve higher outcomes throughout their schooling.
Polite reminders:
-
Reverend Alex has asked parents to remind children not to walk or climb on grave stones in the churchyard. The whole area is checked monthly, but I would ask that the church grounds are accessed with respect and safety in mind.
-
Please do not bring dogs onto the playground or school grounds.
