Year 5 Curriculum Overview (Spring Term)
In the Spring term we have the whole school focus on ‘Our Community’. This allows us to explore Geography alongside many other subjects. We have planned the exciting topic of Social Justice learning about refugees and then later in the term we focus on STEM.
Over the course of the term, we will look at these through the lens of the excellent book I am Malala. We will be able to look at human and world Geography using this text and will be able to use the book to enhanced a variety of other curriculum areas.
If you want to support your child you could help them to look at a world map and start identifying where countries and continents are located, perhaps also looking at certain features associated with each of the places.
There will be opportunities for the children to share any additional knowledge over the course of the term including homework tasks and class based activities.
