Our School Council
We are very proud of our School Council! At St. Bridget’s our children’s opinions, experiences and issues are central in our decision making, policy and practice, so the role of our School Council is essential in hearing the voice of our pupils.
The Council is made up of 16 children, 2 per class from KS2. These children represent the views of each class and provide “grass roots” feedback to life at our school.
The main purpose of our School Council is to provide an essential and unique line of communication, however it is also has 2 other major functions with all of the children automatically forming our Eco Committee and our Ethos Committee.
The Eco-committee helps drive our school's quest to be 'eco-friendly' and a positive force for good within our local community. Encouraging walking or cycling to school, reducing our plastic use, and choosing meat-free options at lunch time are just some of the child-led initiatives that we have put into place. We are working with Wirral to obtain the Eco-School award too.
The Ethos Committee is concerned with the values and Mission Statement of our school. The children make links with our church, aid with our charitable giving and plan worship. This committee also supports our Rights Respecting Schools agenda, ensuring that the UNCRC is promoted.
The School Council is facilitated by Mr Neal and Miss Smith and we meet informally on a 2 weekly basis.
