Year 2 Summer Overview
During summer term in Year 2 we have introduced the theme ‘Our
Environment’ to the children. The children have developed an awareness for
the need to look after our environment.
We have studied Beatrix Potter as an author, looking in particular at Peter
Rabbit. This has been the inspiration for a Peter Rabbit hunt and a letter as
Mr McGregor. In Geography we are thinking about our local environment,
looking at the United Kingdom, before zooming in to have a closer look at
land use near our school. We are rounding up our focus of animals including
humans in science before moving onto our plant topic.

For the second half term, our focus will be on bees. Children will create a
non-fiction information booklet where they will learn about the jobs of a
bee, the parts of a bee and how to create a bee-friendly environment. In
history our focus will stay local with a case study on Ashton Park. Our D.T
will revolve around healthy eating, creating a balanced wrap.
