School Newsletter: 16th October 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the final week before half term, school is bustling with learning, autumnal activities, and exciting plans for the months ahead. Thank you to all of the Reception parents and carers who attended our Welcome Evening at The Wro. It was lovely to spend time together as a community and hear how smoothly our newest pupils have settled into school life at St. Bridget's.

School is now in full swing with our before and after school clubs well established, and a huge well done to our netball team who recently won a tournament in Wirral!

Harvest Festival & Community Giving

Thank you so much to all of the families who have generously sent in food items and donations for our Harvest Festival. Our Harvest service next week will be proudly led by our School Ambassadors. Following the service, all donated items will be packed and sent to support the vital work of the Charles Thompson Mission. Your kindness will make a real difference to local individuals and families in need.

Parents' Evening Next Week

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for our online Parents' Evening appointments taking place next week.

While we hope everything runs seamlessly, we know that internet connection issues can occasionally happen. If you do experience any technical glitches during your appointment, please be reassured that we will happily organise another meeting for you. Looking further ahead, there will also be an opportunity towards the end of term to come into school in person and look through your child's books together.

Fine Motor Skills & Handwriting Development

In today's modern world, day-to-day life does not always afford children the same practical, hands-on opportunities to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as in the past.

Developing a recognised handwriting grip and a fluent approach to writing across the school is one of our primary targets for the coming academic year. To support this—especially lower down in the school—we encourage families to try simple, playful activities at home that build hand strength and dexterity, such as playing with playdough, threading beads, using clothes pegs, playing with small construction blocks, and drawing.

Curriculum Evening Presentations

If you were unable to attend our recent curriculum meetings, or if you would like to reference the information shared as a refresher, all presentation slides are now available on our website. You can view these at any time via our Curriculum Meeting Presentations page.

NHS Mental Health Audit & 'My Happy Mind'

Our NHS School Mental Health Team is currently supporting us to audit our practice in school and help shape our mental health and wellbeing provision moving forward.

We would be most grateful if you could spend a moment completing the Parent/Carer Questionnaire and supporting your child to complete the Child Questionnaire. Both questionnaires can be found by scanning the QR codes on the flyer attached to this newsletter. All responses are completely anonymous and go directly to the Mental Health Team to help build our school action plan. The more responses we receive, the clearer picture we will have to ensure we are developing our provision in the right areas.

Questionnaire Deadline: Friday 23rd October 2026.

Because mental health and wellbeing are central to our children's happiness and success, we are also excited to announce that we will be introducing the 'My Happy Mind' programme across the school next half term. We will share full details with you once our staff training is complete. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the questionnaires!

All Together Worship: Celebrating St. Luke ("A Caring Hand")

Please join us this weekend for our upcoming All Together Worship (ATW) service at St. Bridget's:

Theme: "A Caring Hand" — celebrating St. Luke
Special Focus: We will be giving special thanks to everyone who works in the medical and caring professions

We warmly encourage you to bring along any family members, friends, or neighbours you know who work in healthcare or caregiving so that we can celebrate them and say a collective thank you!
