This Summer term we have the whole school focus on ‘Our Environment’. This allows us to explore some very interesting elements of History and Geography about Our Local Area. We will be studying the UK and its countries, as well as the seas. We will also be looking at the capital cities and famous landmarks. Along side this, we will be looking at compass points and giving clear directions. Year 1 will study the Wirral peninsular, looking at the water surrounding us as well as having a focus on geographical language. We will research famous people from Wirral and the history of Ashton Park.
After this our study will be on Conservation. We will focus on the River Dee, looking at the wildlife around and in it. We will explore how to protect our environment as well as the country code. During this half term the children will create a fish sculpture, sketch flowers and a range of animals as well as enjoying a trip to Ness Botanic Gardens.
If you feel that you have something to contribute to these topics, or have an expertise in this area, please contact your child’s teacher.
